The context
Founded in 2002 in Le Bugue (Dordogne, Périgord Noir), BriKaBrak is a live-arts festival for young audiences — circus, theatre, puppetry, dance — extended by a cultural season running all year across the Dordogne. A rural cultural oasis that welcomes over 1,300 children each year (schools, nurseries, day-care centres). The association needed a site to present its programming season after season, guide varied audiences and manage its editions itself — replacing an ageing website.
The solution
A complete, self-manageable editorial site: programming by season and edition (shows, companies, mapped venues), a filterable calendar, audience segmentation (general public, schools, by age group), archives of past editions, full-text search, a news blog and a double opt-in newsletter. The team manages everything from a back-office, with no technical intervention. The redesign preserved SEO through redirects from the old URLs.
The stack
Ruby on Rails and Hotwire (Turbo + Stimulus), PostgreSQL with full-text search (pg_search), Mapbox GL JS venue mapping, Devise authentication (invitations for the team), the Solid Trifecta (cache, queues and real-time with no external dependency). European hosting, GDPR-compliant.
The result
Live at festival-brikabrak.fr, the site supports the festival edition after edition: a clear showcase for families, schools and partners, an autonomous back-office for the association, and archives that capitalise on more than twenty years of cultural history.
